Dr. Pirooz is a University of California, Berkeley graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Alongside obtaining her bachelors, she worked at the Tang Eye Center on campus. Working with profound doctors and opticians deepened her love for the field of Optometry. She then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry where she gained invaluable experience while working at multiple clinics and serving a variety of demographics, allowing Dr. Pirooz to encounter a multitude of ocular diseases.
She has worked at Community clinics, and Veteran Affair Hospitals where she diagnosed patients with diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, and many other challenging diseases. While at Beyer’s Eye Institute at Stanford, she worked alongside and observed highly skilled ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat neurological ocular issues, concussion patients that are experiencing binocular vision, severe ocular manifestations, and shadowed ophthalmologists while performing surgeries. Dr. Pirooz’s most unique optometric experience was during her time at School for the Blind, where she learned how to do low-vision exams on patients that have had sight threatening manifestations at a young age, leaving them with little to no sight. Dr. Pirooz has been able to solidify her optometric skill and is deeply passionate about providing world class quality care to her patients.
Dr. Pirooz enjoys winding down after work by ideating new designs for her e-commerce business that she started while in optometry school. She is also a board member of Iranian American Women's Foundation where she works under the wellness subgroup to help women come together and find ways to break from societal pressures and cope in destressing ways.
