Dr. Athena Brasfield is a licensed doctor of optometry. She earned her B.A. degree in Biology and English from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. She went on to receive her doctorate in optometry at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors.
While training at the prestigious Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center, Dr. Brasfield refined her skills in the medical treatment of glaucoma, specialty contact lens fittings, vision therapy, and prescribing eyeglasses for various visual needs. During her training, Dr. Brasfield completed challenging rotations at the Veteran Affairs hospitals in Palo Alto and Livermore, CA. She furthered her expertise in ocular disease by interning at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
She also gained experience providing optometric vision care in the sub-specialty clinics of pediatrics and vision therapy by working as a Vision Therapist with one of the nation’s top specialists in the field during her time at Berkeley. Dr. Brasfield is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and continues to attend lectures and seminars to further her knowledge in vision therapy.
She began her optometric career working in Silicon Valley, CA, where she oversaw one of the busiest Orthokeratology/CRT practices in the nation. She treated hundreds of patients fitting Orthokeratology/CRT lenses and scleral contact lenses. There she also designed and implemented the company’s first vision therapy clinic.
She has a special interest in ocular disease management, vision therapy, and myopia control.
Dr. Brasfield is excited to be in the Coachella Valley and is dedicated to compassionate, high quality vision care. She understands the importance of clear, comfortable vision and provides understandable explanations to patients to ensure the best care for their eyes.
Aside from practicing, Dr. Brasfield enjoys spending time with her family, as well as working out at the gym, and finding great places to eat.

Dr. Ann Le was born and raised in Chatsworth, CA and attended the University of California, Berkeley graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology. Subsequently, she earned her Doctorate of Optometry at Western University of Health Sciences-College of Optometry where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and on the Dean’s List. In the summer of 2013, she participated in a mission trip, through VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), to Peru where she provided free eye examinations to over 700 patients who otherwise did not have any access to healthcare.
After graduation, she moved to Miami, FL, where she completed a post-doctorate residency program at the Miami VA Medical Center, specializing in Ocular Disease and Primary Eye Care. During her residency training, she had the opportunity to work with veterans who were visually impaired due to glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other complex ocular conditions. She also has given multiple lectures to optometric interns and residents and presented a poster on Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension at the American Academy of Optometry.
In her spare time, Dr. Le enjoys trying new restaurants, spin classes and scrapbooking. You can also find her exploring new places and hiking trails with her fiancé, John, and their Labrador Retriever, Diesel.

Dr. Tyler Horton was born and raised in San Luis Obispo along the Central Coast of California. He attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, graduating with Cum Laude honors and a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences. During his undergraduate studies, he founded the pre-Optometry club, spearheaded multiple microbiological and biochemical research studies, and played for the Cal Poly Hockey team.
Following graduation, Dr. Horton spent the next 3 years building an analytical wine chemistry laboratory from the ground up, overseeing hundreds of assays offered to the surrounding wine country of Paso Robles, CA.Dr. Horton then went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA, graduating near the top of his class with Summa Cum Laude honors and Beta Sigma Kappa honors. While completing his doctorate, Dr. Horton was heavily involved in working to further the profession of optometry by serving as the American Optometric Association’s Political Action Committee chair-liaison. He also was a student member of the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) organization, participating in multiple medical mission trips delivering free care to the underserved populations of Tecate, Mexico, and South Central Los Angeles.
Dr. Horton completed challenging externships at the South Central Family Health Center in Los Angeles, CA, and the Southeast Tucson Veterans Affairs Clinic in Tucson, AZ. At these sites, he further refined his medical management and treatment of ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, uveitis, and more. He also gained extensive experience in the pre-operative and post-operative management and care of LASIK, PRK, SMILE, cataract extraction, corneal transplant, and other surgical conditions during his training at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA, and New Eyes Surgical in Las Vegas, NV.

Dr. Marian Pishay graduated from the University of California Riverside with Cum Laude honors and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then went on to pursue her passion in optometry and attended Western University of Health Sciences- College of Optometry and received her Doctorate of Optometry. She spent several months during her clinical rotations providing comprehensive eye exams to our veterans with complex ocular conditions at the Veteran Affairs hospitals in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Shreveport, Louisiana. This experience honed her skills in treating and managing a wide range of visual conditions and ocular health diseases.
Dr. Pishay is a dedicated optometrist with a passion for providing the best care for her patients by taking the time to listen to their concerns and educate them on their ocular health. She gives every patient the same level of care that she would want her family members to receive. Through her professionalism, expertise and genuine care for her patients, Dr. Pishay continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those she serves. She is dedicated to staying updated with the latest advancements in the field of optometry and is committed to lifelong learning and community involvement.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Pishay enjoys relaxing at the beach, cooking new recipes, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Pirooz is a University of California, Berkeley graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Alongside obtaining her bachelors, she worked at the Tang Eye Center on campus. Working with profound doctors and opticians deepened her love for the field of Optometry.

She then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry where she gained invaluable experience while working at multiple clinics and serving a variety of demographics, allowing Dr. Pirooz to encounter a multitude of ocular diseases.
She has worked at Community clinics, and Veteran Affair Hospitals where she diagnosed patients with diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, and many other challenging diseases. While at Beyer’s Eye Institute at Stanford, she worked alongside and observed highly skilled ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat neurological ocular issues, concussion patients that are experiencing binocular vision, severe ocular manifestations, and shadowed ophthalmologists while performing surgeries. Dr. Pirooz’s most unique optometric experience was during her time at School for the Blind, where she learned how to do low-vision exams on patients that have had sight threatening manifestations at a young age, leaving them with little to no sight. Dr. Pirooz has been able to solidify her optometric skill and is deeply passionate about providing world class quality care to her patients.
Dr. Pirooz enjoys winding down after work by ideating new designs for her e-commerce business that she started while in optometry school. She is also a board member of Iranian American Women's Foundation where she works under the wellness subgroup to help women come together and find ways to break from societal pressures and cope in destressing ways.

Dr. Lo grew up in central New Jersey and received her bachelors of science from Cornell University. She then moved to San Francisco and went on to get her doctor of optometry degree from UC Berkeley school of optometry where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society. As an optometrist, Dr. Lo is able to provide routine and medical eye exams, fit contact lenses, and manage pre and post surgical care. She also loves working with children. When not in clinic, Dr. Lo enjoys skiing with her husband and doing jigsaw puzzles. Dr. Lo and her husband also love trying new restaurants.

Dr. Cynthia Mund was born and raised in Perris, California before moving to Los Angeles. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. After a few years of working as a technician in the eyecare field, she was inspired to pursue a future in optometry. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry with Cum Laude Honors. During her time at school she spent several rotations working with underserved communities, offering primary care exams and ocular disease management. These rotations included the South Central Family Health Center in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Christian Health Center near Skid Row in Los Angeles, and the Veteran Affairs Clinic in Bakersfield, CA.
Inspired to further her studies, she completed a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the Riverside San-Bernardino Indian Health Service. Here she worked with the Native American population performing a wide range of exams including primary care, pediatric, contact lens, and ocular disease management (i.e. diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, uveitis). She performed 25 different clinical procedures as part of her training, including YAG Capsulotomy, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, and skin tag removals.
Dr. Mund is passionate about the role optometry can play in a patient's well-being. In her spare time, she enjoys trying new foods, reading murder mystery novels, and spending time with her husband, David.

Born in Argentina, Dr. Alvaro Torres moved to the United States at the age of 13, an event that helped him become fluent in both Spanish and English. His multicultural upbringing instilled in him the importance of effective communication in the exam room, regardless of language. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry.
During his education, Dr. Torres had the opportunity to provide free eye exams to underserved communities in Cambodia through AMIGOS Eye Care, further solidifying his passion for serving those in need. Since earning his degree, he has practiced in the Coachella Valley for more than five years and remains committed to supporting the local community. He gained valuable experience working alongside local ophthalmologists, developing expertise in managing complex eye conditions and providing thorough pre- and post-operative care for procedures such as cataract surgery, refractive surgery, strabismus correction, and eyelid surgeries.
Dr. Torres takes a patient-centered approach, empowering individuals to understand their eye health and make informed decisions, ensuring they feel confident and supported throughout their care.
